Recent Advances in Energy Harvesting from the Human Body for Biomedical Applications

Energy harvesters serve as continuous and long-lasting sources of energy that can be integrated into wearable implantable sensors biomedical devices. This review paper presents the current progress, challenges, advantages, disadvantages future trends which harvest from various human body. The most used types are chemical; thermal biomechanical each group is represented by several nano-generators. Chemical harvested with a help microbial enzymatic biofuel cells, collected via pyroelectric nano-generators, scavenged piezoelectric triboelectric materials, electromagnetic electrostatic generators photovoltaic effect allows scavenging light energy. Their operating principles, power ratings, features, designs presented. There different ways extracting maximum approaches in nanogenerator discussed. ever-growing interest this field linked to larger role electronics future. Possible directions development outlined; practical applications for glucose sensors, oximeters pacemakers Based on increasingly accumulated literature, there promising improvements anticipated lead portable devices without requirement batteries.
